The current Battle Ground Community library opens on
land given by the School District. Fort Vancouver Regional Library (FVRL)
pays for the cost of legal transfer of the land and most of the
construction costs for the current 3,896 square foot building. Generous
contributions were also made by the City of Battle Ground, PTA, Ben
Lancaster Gardens, Garden Club, and Campfire Girls. |

Library Capital Facilities Area established by voters.
Majority of voters approve bond for the new building. The bond failed
because a supermajority of 60% is required for bond measures. |

BG School District and Parks bond elections fail, as
does FVRL bond. Recognizing that this is not a good time to ask the
community to pass a local library construction bond, the Friends, in
consultation with the Fort Vancouver Library Foundation, decided in
April to seek private funding and partners for a new building.
February 2005 - FVRL Board meets in Battle Ground to vote on a contract
to site our new community library in Battle Ground Village, part of a
new development by the Gold Medal Group, southeast of the city center. |
